Welcome to the official website of Copenhagen Strand

Welcome to Copenhagen Strand

Although Denmark is small, it still offers two complete types of holiday that not ‘only’ have won the hearts of the Danish, but also the hearts of international guests. Across tongues and cultures. You see, if you want to explore cultural heritages, locale experiences, and star sprinkled restaurants, you can go for a city break. If you, on the other hand, appreciate cosy holiday cottages and fresh sea air, it is natural to stay by the preservation-worthy coasts that, most beautifully, encircle Denmark. Unfortunately, it is not easy to combine these types of holidays during the same stay. Unless you visit Copenhagen Strand. Our 4-stared hotel is in the first row by the blue waves in Copenhagen Harbour – naturally, close to attractions and must-sees, but still in a peaceful atmosphere. Therefore, we consider Copenhagen Strand as a seaside hotel in the city centre – and we look forward to give you a warm welcome!

Be surrounded by maritime luxury in Copenhagen

You can find us in a well-preserved warehouse from 1869 that, just like the rediscovered Danish seaside hotels, creates exclusive frames around a recreational and nostalgic stay. Behind our walls, you find a 4-stared atmosphere that might make you think of holiday cottages, beaches and sea breezes. Because you will be met with light three furniture, dark blue surfaces and colours, straight reeds and a mixture of the Nordic light and warm glows, both from the open fire and the ceiling lights that hang like luminous amber lumps. The maritime style continues in our 174 rooms – and therefore completes your laid-back luxury stay in the centre of Copenhagen.

Breakfast in a subsea atmosphere

As a guest at Copenhagen Strand, you can start the day in our breakfast restaurant. In here, you find a buffet with, among others, eggs, different cheeses and cold meats, oats and muesli, fresh greens and fruits, newly baked breads… and sweet pastries for the last mouthful. Our breakfast restaurant is placed on the basement floor and surrounds you with raw warehouse bricks, which both stand solidly and express the ravages of time. The original outer walls are accompanied by sea blue colours that spread on the floors and waving walls… and look like seawater in both its calm and roaring form. Furthermore, the restaurant has windows close to the ceiling, which therefore let a diagonal inflow of lights pass by and throw vivid shafts of sunlight in the maritime room. Just as if you enjoyed your breakfast under the calm sea surface.

From sightseeing to salvation

When you stay at Copenhagen Strand, you are in a walking distance from the many sightseeing experiences and attractions that Copenhagen has to offer. These include Amalienborg, which is the residence of the Danish royal family, the iconic Nyhavn, the shopping Mecca on Strøget and The King’s New Square where trendy restaurants and cocktail bars are lined up. Yes, you can benefit from the central and harbour close location of Copenhagen Strand in many ways – and there are even more to come. Seeing that, you can also enjoy the view of the blue water surface in Copenhagen Harbour, naturally from several rooms and suites, but also from the promenade. If the weather is dry and sunny, we warmly recommend borrowing one of our beach chairs and enjoying a seated moment next to soft ripples in the harbour.

Stay at Copenhagen Strand – a cosy hotel

In the heart of Copenhagen, slightly set back from the noise of the city in one of the old warehouses from 1869, you'll find Copenhagen Strand - a cosy and charming hotel.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the decor is classic Nordic design. The reception and lounge are located in the high-ceilinged cellar, along with the hotel's breakfast room.

The hotel has 174 tranquil rooms – some with a small bay window where you can sit and gaze at the water, some with direct views of the water and some overlooking the renovated houses surrounding the hotel. The hotel's Suite View, Junior Suite View and Executive View rooms all enjoy direct views of the water – rooms that invite peace and reflection after a busy day exploring the city.

The hotel is situated in Havnegade along the Port of Copenhagen – one of Copenhagen's most central and charming locations. It is easy to access the hotel by metro, bus and train. Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv are just around the corner, with a wealth of experiences and lively temptations for a fun-packed day.

The area is also home to the Royal Theatre, the Charlottenborg Art Museum, Fotografisk Center, Strøget shopping street and fabulous gourmet restaurants.

Nyhavn is a chapter for itself: Brimming with restaurants and pavement cafes where you can sit among the crowd and relax with a cool draft beer or sit and dangle your feet over the edge of the quay. From Nyhavn you can take one of the famous guided canal cruise boats that sail around Copenhagen's canals. You can sit and relax for an hour and a half as you enjoy tales of both present and past – an attraction that even the local Copenhageners enjoy taking part in.

Stay centrally and experience the city

Copenhagen Strand is located in the neighbourhood of Gammelholm, which is characterised by the local residents who are proud of this beautiful district, which is still relatively undiscovered by tourists. Strand's central location gives you ample opportunity to enjoy mingling with the local Copenhageners.
